Kinja'd!!!1 Kinja'd!!! 12

So far it’s been a good week.

The leak under the kitchen has been fixed. It’s been leaking for about two years apparently, had someone out last year and they thought they had fixed the leak, turns out they hadn’t, just changed a pipe they thought was leaking.

Pre-metric, half inch copper pipe.

Kinja'd!!!

Thankfully the house was built 150 years ago on reclaimed marshland so there is underground drainage built into so shouldn’t of affected the house.

New car is on it’s way from Czechia and licence plate has been assigned to the vehicle.

Dirt basements FTW...

So weird that the UK has metric pipe and still has so much imperial. The reverse of Canada - where everything is metric except for building materials.

Building materials, older cars and for some reason, my reports. Things that are not metric.

Also, people's weight, and power of vehicles.

When I first saw the thumbnail I though that was a severely rotted middle finger for a split second and I thought that would be an odd Valentine’s gift.

Marketed by the lb, but calculated/weighted at the tills by the kilo.

Well the imperial pipes are very much still in good shape, no point ripping out all the old pipe because it changed to metric. That shit is expensive man.

In the U.K. we use imperial and metric. Roads imperial, foods often metric and stuff like milk is both metric and imperial.

Kinja'd!!!

I think buildings are now in metric.

Yeah absolutely, it will last almost forever though it may pinhole. Plus now they just replace it with plastic, which has its own issues.

This is a good example - as window sticker fuel economy in Canada is still shown in miles per imperial gallon, so fuel economy increases 20% when you cross the border.

They replaced the long pipe with plastic (going from the outside shut off to the stop cock (replacing the stop cock) in the property) last year, this year as it was a section and a join to replace (they had to cut another pipe running over the top to get to the one below), they used metric copper pipe (for both bits), the metric only varies from the imperial by about half a millimetre, which needs a stepped section either side to join to the two different sizes.

L ol. We do mpgUK, but buy our fuel in litres.

What makes it confusing for you (as noted by yourself ) i s the two imperial units, when one is an old imperial unit (which I may be wrong, is only used in America), which is actually called U.S. Customary Units. They should just call it U.S. Customary Units, though thinking about it, it maybe too long, so maybe shorten it to U.S. Cun .... Okay, maybe now. Lol.

Ha well I think Americans would be shocked to learn they’re getting shorted 20% on every pint of beer just because they didn’t convert to the larger gallon.

That’s probably for the best.......

Miller Lite, Coors, Budweiser, etc... urgh.

Actually. I think I’ll have a Budweiser now, a Budvar, the proper original Czech Budweiser.
